There are many external hard drives error handling ( HDD external box) , USB flash disk or memory card ( memory card) can not read or unrecognized . In this article only provides error handling when you are not quickly available data rescue tool in hand .
Situation: external hard drive or USB before normal use . After a power failure or withdrawal USB data cable incorrectly or by another cause , when plugged into the computer , Windows recognizes the drive name of the new device is plugged in but not read data and make informed requires you to reformat ( forrmat ) before you can use .
Handling :
Cancel suggested format of Windows
Access the Start > All Programs > Accessories , right - click on the Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator
In the command prompt window , run the command chkdsk x : / f ( where x is the name of the failed drive ) and press Enter. For example, if the drive is an external hard drive F : you type in chkdsk F : / f
After chkdsk is done , you may be accessing data in your external hard drive
